Peters Billiards Voted Best of Houzz 2016

We have big news! Peters Billiards was awarded Best of Houzz 2016 in the Design category. We selected this photo for a few reasons. For one it’s breathtakingly beautiful and makes you feel as if you’re on vacation. It’s a gorgeous space that’s incredibly inviting and you can easily picture yourself eating by candlelight or cozying up on the sectional under the moonlight. 6 STEPS TO GET THE LOOK

Most people don’t have the space or the location to create this exact look, but you can re-create something similar with these six steps.

#1 – An Outdoor Space. Whether you have a deck, a patio, or screen porch you need an open spot to create this inviting style.

#2 - Cozy Furniture. This photo uses the Club Woven cushion sectional and Charleston Aluminum dining, both from Summer Classics, to create three seating groups. A dining table and chairs is perfect for dinner, a glass of wine and conversation. After dinner head over to the cushioned sectional for a cozy spot to relax and enjoy time with friends and family.  Using two to three seating groups that coordinate, but aren’t matching, add variety and fresh look to the room.

#3 – Calming Colors. To create this calming and stress-free atmosphere opt for colors in the linen, beige or tan color families and accent with just a touch of soft blues and greens for that seaside feel. Keep the patterns simple as not to distract from the view or overall design.

#4 – Bring on the Texture. From the draperies to the woven wicker to the decking under foot, you’re sure to find a lot of texture in this photo.  All of this texture invites you to relax and just be yourself. Choosing woven wicker all-weather furniture starts you in the right direction. Additional items such as the linen-look curtains, beautiful foliage and greenery, wood deck, teak accent tables, or a stone patio add to the texture element and create beautiful interest.

#5 – Add a Ceiling Overhead. Adding some element of shade from the sun will make this outdoor space much more appealing during the hot day sun and helps to create the outdoor “room”. You can get this from an umbrella, a pergola, or a canopy structure such as the one pictured. Fabrics that are made of 100% solution dyed acrylic, such as the Sunbrella brand of outdoor fabrics, are meant to withstand the outdoor elements and not fade in sunlight. Choose this material or something similar for your draperies or umbrellas.

#6 – Layer on the Light. The final key to this entire photo is the lighting aspect. Accent and mood lighting layered throughout this outdoor room will take it from great to grand and complete the entire look. From the floor to the ceiling no area is left untouched.

• Ground lighting such as floor lanterns, landscape lighting, and pathway lighting will showcase what’s underfoot.
•  Highlight a focal point such as a tree, a water element or feature piece with uplighting. This also creates a pleasing glow over foliage nearby.
• Overall mood lighting that casts a warm glow over the entire space. The photo portrays mood lighting well by hanging lanterns from the tree. Spreading light throughout the space will cast an even light that’s pleasing to skin tones and gentle on the eye. This can be accomplished with multiple lighting sources such as candles, string lights, lanterns, lamps, and more. Be careful not to get too bright, were not looking for task lighting here.
